Bonfire & Fireworks

Saturday today and although I went to the club for sailing, there was hardly any wind so I decided to give it a miss. I would struggle, I would be frustrated and I would be trailing at the back of the fleet. I arrived late for the first race anyway, so I decided to sit on the beach and watch the others. Steve was not there either but he called and he said he would come later.

In the evening we had the bonfire and fireworks display and it was quite nice. It was all organised by all three clubs at the Welsh Harp. I the beginning it was me and Pete. We went to the BTYC bar and had a couple of drinks. We were chatting with Matt and Morris (BTYC Laser sailors) and Steve arrived a bit later. When it was time for the bonfire, Lydia called and I went to pick her up from the station. She was out in town with a friend of hers, so they came there together. In the mean time Jen, Pete’s girlfriend, had arrived. Later on Brent came straight from the airport. He had been on holiday to Romania for a week. We had a few drinks and hamburgers, from the Seahorse BBQ, and watched the firework display. To be honest I expected it to be quite low key with a few fireworks. It turns out that Wembley had spent £600 for the fireworks, it was spectacular and lasted quite long. It was much better than I expected.

A couple of drinks later we decided to get going. It was a very nice social event that I quite enjoyed. Next one is the Laying Up Supper, towards the end of the month. Until then more racing!
