Invitation Trophies
Today was the Invitation Trophies race. This day last year, I went home with a prize. So, I somehow felt OK about today. The format was 3 races, 1 discard but the wind didn’t really help us. There was light wind and made things quite difficult.
On the first race there was a bit of a wind and I managed to focus, so I finished 9th. I had a little incident with Rob. He tacked to port soon after the leeward mark without checking to see if he is clear and as I had just luffed up, I was still on starboard and we collided. He had to do 2 turns and Tom who was close behind me insisted we should enforce it. Rob was not happy at all after that and he was chasing me for the rest of the day trying to make my life difficult.
On the second race, I managed to fall into a hole and I fell behind. I got really pissed off and I couldn’t get it off my mind, so it was a struggle. Nothing exciting happened and I finished 12th. On the third race with Rob close behind me and always trying to make my life difficult, he came intentionally to close and we touched gunnels. I was windward boat so I very quickly did my turns and I managed to catch up with him and sail passed him. That pissed him off even more!
He came close to me and he was trying even harder. At some point he got childish and rude and I got quite angry. I tried to ignore him and carried on but I was quite pissed off. Anyway, I finished 12th. that gave me an Overall position of 12th out of 20. Last year, I was last, so this is a definite improvement. More sailing on Wednesday. See you then.
