Cold & Wet at Cambrai
Today we started at 7:30 from Brussels for a 100 mile (160 km) ride. I tried not to eat too much bread, I tried to prevent saddle sores and kept energy levels high. I have been taking Cliff Gel Shots, drinking electrolytes and water; I didn’t eat much for breakfast and lunch.
After we started I dropped off the back. On the next stop I left a few minutes behind the leaders. So, I put the foot down, increased the tempo and caught up with them. At the lunch stop, in Mons, I got cold and I found it hard to pick up the pace when we started again. During the last stop (water stop) it started raining. So the last leg was cold and wet. Eventually, I arrived at Cambrai.
I had a hot shower in order to warm my body up. Had dinner and now I am getting ready for bed.
Tomorrow, rain in the morning (starting at 8:00) but only 70 miles (112 km) to Soissons.
