Saturday Sailing Again
Lydia is working nights these days, so I thought I could go sailing today. The wind looked good and it felt a bit chilly. Therefore, I decided to wear my shorty wetsuit and the spray top that borrowed from Steve. I didn’t have problem with the weather, but somehow I managed to mess up my sail. Before I even started the outhaul hook came off the clew eye. It was a bit too windy to do it whilst afloat, so I went close to the shore at the North Circular Club, I jumped off the boat and sorted it out. By the time I did all that, everybody was gone and there was no point in racing. So the first race was gone.
On the second race I did a good start and the rest of the race went well. It was gusty today, so it was a bit difficult. There were about 5 Wembley members including myself, so there was more competition. The race finished without any notable incidents. Steve had to go after the second race, so I decided to go in with him and have a little chat, while the others went for tea and cake at the North Circular Club.
At the third race, all other Wembley members had gone. I think that most of the had been sailing in the morning, so they were a bit tired. As a resukl, only 4 Lasers started the third race. I was hoping I would be second, but Morris beat me to it, so I ended up third. On the second race I had finished before him, so either he wasn’t focused on the second race, or he won because he knows the Welsh Harp and its wind shifts better than I do. I don’t know what it is, but I want to find out.
That was it really, not much excitement due to less competition but still, I enjoyed it. Tomorrow we are racing as usual, so I’ll let you know how it goes.
