Light Winds, Boring Day
Unfortunately, the wind today was not that good and the whole day turned out to be quite boring. On top of that today we had a pursuit race. In a pursuit race, different classes of boats start at different times and they are all expected to finish at the same time. So the slower boats go first and the fastest last.
The Fireflies were first, then the GP14s, then the Lasers, then the RS200s and last the Merlin Rockets. When there were gusts, boats like the RS200s and the Merlins were accelerating much faster than the Lasers. SO in that sense, we didn’t really stand a chance. When the gust would hit me and I could feel the boat picking speed, the Merlins were already planing.
In the light wind with my weight I didn’t really enjoy it and I lost interest and focus after a while. It felt like fighting for a lost cause. I didn’t really care about the result, so I cannot really tell you who won or even what class won.
Next Saturday I am not sailing, I will spend the day with Lydia. See you on Sunday though.
