Bubble’s X-Mas Gift
Today, it wasn’t a great day. Nothing exciting really on the racing front.
In the morning the wind was quite light and I hadn’t managed to set my sail properly. My control lines didn’t seem to be working properly so I didn’t finish. I went in because it was pointless. I was not making any gains towards the competition, so I thought I better go in and sort out the outhaul.
On the second race although I had sorted out the rigging problems, the wind was growing stronger and I was not adjusting the sail according to the wind all the time. When I realised what the problem was, it was too late. I had a fairly good start and a good first upwind leg but later on I fell behind. Towards the end of the race I set my sail properly and I was moving faster but it didn’t make any change.
After racing, Ben came to install his brand new XD Power Pack. He already had the XD fittings, but he needed the ropes and blocks for the rigging. I had offered to buy the old ones off him but, much to his credit, he offered them to me anyway. I helped him with the rigging and then he gave me the “left overs”. The cleat base with the cam cleats, the deck plate with the blocks and his old cunningham because I needed the blocks for a new 9:1 outhaul. I just screwed the cleat base and the block plate on and I will finish things off, next week because it got dark and I couldn’t see well. I had to help Ben with his rigging first, it was only fair since he gave me his spare bits.
Thanks to Ben, for Bubble’s early X-Mas gift!
