Some years ago I registered the domain yiannis.co.uk. Initially I was using it only for email. When I started sailing, I decided to start a blog the Captain’s Log. I used Blogger, but there was an option where it would automatically upload the files to my website via FTP. So for the last 6-7 years or so I was doing that. Note, that I had stopped blogging quite some time ago. On the server you could just find the pages.
For the past few months I have been feeling the urge to blog, again. Blogger stopped supporting the self-hosted-FTP-uploading-solution, so I had to do it differently. I have been using self-hosted WordPress for 3-4 years now, so I though I would use that on my server and on my domain.
The biggest problem was to find the time. Somehow, last week I started working on it and once it got to a point that it is suitable for public viewing, I set everything live and switched from the old server to the new one.
