He carried on but his rear derailleur snapped 4 km from the finish. He started walking towards the finish line when he saw a spectator and asked him for his bike, a Specialized Stumpjumper from the early 80&#8217;s. He left his broken bike &#8220;as collateral&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Zack, I don&#8217;t think the spectator was thinking of running away with your broken bike. Crashed into the guys who crashed into the dog. Kept riding, almost made it back, derailleur exploded with 4K of climbing left. Started walking to make time cut, flagged down a spectator with this mint &#8217;82 ish stump jumper, upgrade from walking, left my bike as collateral, he wasn&#8217;t going anywhere on it.
