Therefore, I decided to sail today. The forecast was for light winds, but I thought I’d go. I was a bit busy in the morning, so I didn’t know if I would arrive in time for the first race. I arrived and rigged in time, but the wind wasn’t going to play ball.

I started the first race and I was trying to keep the boat slightly heeled to leeward and move as gently as possible. That was all OK and fine, but once I fell in a hole I saw everybody, including James, sail past me. The GP14 fleet caught up with me and made things even worse. I was surrounded by sails and the light wind wouldn’t come through at all. I ended up last with the GP14s.

On the second race things got even worse. I had to deal with a GP14 that decided to do turns, right in front of me and I had to go around it. I am not saying that this incident caused me the race, but it pissed me off quite a lot. That, in combination with the lack of wind really made me wanting to go in. I carried on but during the last lap, after the wind had died completely, I was told that I would be timed out according to the race officer’s calculations, so I might as well go in.

So, I went in, de-rigged Bubble and decided that I won’t do the third race. It was completely pointless since the wind was so bad. Ben and Matt were trying to convince us to go out with them, but then later on I saw Ben come back in during the third race. So, I didn’t miss anything, really. Tomorrow I will go to the club to give Bubble a scrub.

A Day tomorrow, so we cannot sail.
