Miserable Day

I woke up this morning and it was raining. I put on my dump gear from yesterday, not a great start for the day, and went to the club. At some point it was raining hard and there were quite a few people who didn’t seem prepared to go out in those conditions. I went out to rig and there were a few more people on boat park, rigging.

Because of the weather we didn’t have big turnout. Only 6 of us where out for the first race and I finished 5th. I didn’t have a good start at all and the people ahead of me were Mike and Steve. Both of the quite good sailors so I didn’t really have a chance. The rain was making things worse. It was quite miserable and towards the end of the race I was feeling cold. We went in for a break and I had a hot coffee after a long time.

Going out for the second race was even worse. I was cold and I was seriously thinking of not racing. I knew, though, that as soon as I would start moving I would get warmer and won’t mind the cold. So I went out. Jay came out for the second race, so I had some competition. My start was terrible once again and I had to move fast in order to recover. At least I managed to find myself ahead of Ben and Jay. At some point the rain stopped, so things got a bit better. Finally I finished 5th out of 7. I covered Bubble and I went in for a hot shower.

More racing on Wednesday. Hopefully the weather will get better by then.
